В общем тип нашёл сохранившийся топор пиктов. Обмерил. Сделал реплику
 

A ground-breaking discovery of national significance!
About this time last year, I spotted an axe in the National Museum of Scotland that set me thinking.
Listed as an iron battleaxe in a display of medieval period items, I believed that the form of the relic pointed towards a very different purpose and origin.
Further research followed including direct access to the axe-head for close study and measurement which confirmed initial suspicions.
This appears to be the only identifiable example currently known of an indigenous Pictish planking axe in Scotland.
This conclusion is backed by no less than four surviving examples of extensively carved Pictish stones which display six axe-heads of exactly the same form and proportion of cultural tool.
These findings were presented last Saturday at the Pictish Arts Society Conference 2015 before leading Scottish academics, archaeologists and museum staff. The axe findings were presented along with our collaborative research suggesting that a sword held in the National Museum is most likely also the only known example of a Pictish sword.
Co-presenters stonecarver David McGovern and blade-smith Chris Grant did an outstanding job in outlining the supporting evidence from contemporary carvings and period metallurgy. This, combined with geographical context and cultural form in comparison with contemporary Viking examples created a compelling presentation that shall only be further developed and built on as we discover more.
For a long time now, I have been keen to see bridges built between academic historians and museum curatorial staff and traditional craftsmen, who work with and fully understand historical processes and materials. This presentation we feel was an important first step in making this happen.
This is an exciting time for understanding more about our very own culture through contemporary references, existing antiquaries and new discoveries.
And aye, more shall yet come from this!

Мастер конечно молодец, что взялся и восстановил...,но функции... Боевой? Или, как на картинке, рыбу разделывать?

Он в музее экспонируется как средневековый боевой. В действительности идентифицировали после обмера как топор пиктов, что-то вроде потёса

На чертеже видно асимметричный профиль
