Czechoslovak Forest and Estates Dagger w/Frog & Teardrop Hanger/Belt Loop. INOXYDABKE above WLASZLOVITS STOS, Czechoslovakia TM. A photograph of this RARE dagger can be found on page 83 of World of Dress Daggers 1900-1945 by Robert J. Berger. Gilded-brass hilt fittings show only faint surface wear with virtually 100% of matte, honey-gold factory finish remaining in the recesses in the pommel, pebbled upper and lower ferrules, floral motif, down-sloping crossguard with ball shaped quillon tips and clamshell with a central motif of the Czechoslovak rampant lion of Bohemia crest surrounded by a raised motif of wheat stalks and lime tree leaves. The oval pommel cap features the raised, cast initials "SLS" on a pebbled background for Stani Lesy Statky (State Forests and Estates). The dark brown staghorn grip is nicely age toned with no cracks or chips. The plain, plated, single fuller, blade grades EX+ showing minor surface wear/runner marks with some minor pitting to the obverse/reverse but, no nicks to the cutting or false edges, and no damage to the blade tip. The blade is complete with the original green felt buffer pad. The black leather scabbard with obverse/reverse impressed lines shows virtually no wear with no creases, rips or tears and no damage to the reverse stitching. The brass scabbard fittings show minor surface wear with no dents or depressions. The upper fitting features a pebbled panel on the obverse decorated with three lime leaves at the lower edge and is complete with an acorn motif frog lug. The lower fitting features an obverse of five pebbled panels each decorated with lime leaf motifs. Both fittings retain virtually 100% of the honey-gold factory finish in the pebbled panels.
